The 50th anniversary will be a year of celebration – events, fundraisers, revelry and more – but before we start, we want to make sure our time and effort is going toward something greater than just a really good party. (Which it will be, of course!)
After much consideration, the committee has come up with the following goals, which we hope will serve as a guide during this planning process:
Celebrate PCC’s history. This is a great opportunity to honor the accomplishments of our founders, students, faculty and staff.
Raise awareness. We want more people to know how many people are touched by PCC and all the different ways we are involved in the community.
Make contact. The 50th is a chance to reach out to our large alumni base and increase their involvement and affinity with the college.
Strengthen relationships. We also want to build on the relationships we already have with community supporters, business partners and donors.
Share PCC’s vision of the future. The power of PCC is not just where we plan to be in the future, but what we can do if we work together as a community.
Now let the celebration planning begin!

Tyrene was great! I loved the idea of getting faculty/staff and students to brainstorm ideas. Thank you!
A question – do we (PCC) have an internal communications person? At other companies I’ve been at, that position has led the efforts for an anniversary.

Afte 50 years of excellence it is time for PCC to really lead the fight in the “green revolution”. A magor goal should be to let the public know how important it is for all of us to use solar power. Also, PCC should lead by example, using solar power and other renewable resources as much as possible and letting the public know about it. I did not know how important and available uses of solar power was until I recently started researching the subject. I found a very informative website that reports the most cutting- edge inovations in the uses of solae power and how we can all get involved now http://www.usesofsolarpower.com

Hi Tami,
No, we do not have a designated internal communications person, but Katherine McDonald in the Marketing Office has accepted a position within Advancement to be the half-time 50th Anniversary coordinator (wonderful news!). Advancement is working other ways to get the word out internally (this blog is a start!). If you have any ideas about this, please post! The 50th Anniversary should truly be a PCC-wide and community wide celebration.
